BEFORE its biennial footrace in Cebu City, the A-Plus All Weather Paints in partnership with BQ Mall and Buildersware will first treat Boholanos with an exciting event as it will be staging the second edition of Saulog Run slated April 23 at the Galleria Luisa in Tagbilaran City.

The Saulog Run will feature the now “color run” where participants will be splattered with color powders along the route.

Spicing up the event is the post-race party where the participants will be entertained by local DJ’s and bands.

In line with the Saulog Festival, the run will have the 3-kilometer, 6k distances.

“We have seen the big demand of a colored powder concept in running events in Cebu and we thought that it might be a big hit also here in Bohol,” said A-Plus All Weather Paints vice president for Visayas and Mindanao Operations Pepito Lim in a press conference held yesterday at the Buzzz Resto in Galleria Luisa in Tagbilaran.

The color run concept is also the organizers’ way of of encouraging the youth to engage in the sport of running, added Lim, who was joined in the press briefing by BQ Mall vice president for Operations Reginald Ong, race director Clark Pumares and local government officials in Tagbilaran.

Cash prizes amounting to P48,000 are at stake in the race. Top three finishers in each category will get cash prizes as well as the youngest, oldest, best in costume runners and the biggest delegation.

Registration fee is pegged at P300 for the 3k race and P350 for the 6k event.

Registration sites will be at the BQ Mall, CPG sports complex, Galleria Luisa and Buildersware outlets in Tagbilaran.

Lim revealed that the Saulog Run in Tagbilaran will serve as the first of three running events that will be held in the Visayas with the finale set on June 4 at the Terraces of Ayala Center Cebu.

The biennial A-Plus All Weather Paint Run, which will be on its third edition, will feature a 21-kilometer half marathon and shorter distances.

After the footrace in Bohol, the next event will be in Bacolod on May 21.

Lim said there are plans to make the Cebu stop a color and bubble-themed run to make it more exciting.
