Guv’s Cup hoop takes a break, resumes April 19

AFTER a highly successful opening day, the Cebu Governor’s Cup 21-and-under Inter-Cities/Municipalities Basketball Tournament will take a brief break in observance of the Holy Week.

The league will resume on April 19 in two separate venues featuring three games each in the North and South divisions.

Games in the North Division will be held at the Carmen Municipal Gymnasium, while the South Division will be at the Talisay Sports Complex.

The North Division duels will have Balamban going up against Danao City at 5 p.m. and Borbon taking on Tuburan in the second game at 6:30 p.m. The main game will have the host team Carmen battling Sogod at 8 p.m.

In the South Division matches, Sibonga will clash with Argao in the first game, followed by the duel between Naga and Minglanilla. The main match will pit host team Talisay and San Fernando.

Organized by the Cebu Provincial Sports Commission (CPSC) headed by executive director Ramil Abing, the home-and-away tournament kicked off last Sunday in a grand opening ceremonies at the Cebu Coliseum.

Taking off to winning starts were Tudela and Samboan.

Tudela tripped Pilar, 50-47, in the North Division, while Samboan clawed back from a 10-point fourth quarter deficit to defeat Oslob, 78-75, in their South Division duel.
