VETERAN boxer Jason Canoy isn’t giving up just yet after he fell short in his world title bid in South Africa last month.
In fact, the Omega Boxing Gym stalwart is hoping for a rematch against Mzuvukile Magwaca, who chalked up a split decision victory in their March 31 showdown for the World Boxing Federation (WBF) World bantamweight title at the Oliver Tambo Hall in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, South Africa.
“The match-maker said it was a great fight. Some were saying I should have won the fight. I personally believed I won the fight and to settle the issue once and for all, I am hoping that I will be given a rematch,” said Canoy.
Canoy (26W-7L-2D-19KOs) said he was the better fighter in the fight, claiming Magwaca never hurt him.
Judges Clifford Mbelu and Eddie Marshal gave the fight to Magwaca, 117-112, and, 117-110, respectively. The third judge Darryl Ribbick had Canoy winning, 115-114.
