CEBU’S Gruppo Habagat – Paramount bagged two titles in the 2017 Boracay International Dragon Boat Festival last Saturday off the shores of Boracay Island, in Aklan.
The Cebu-based team finished first place in the 500-meter mixed masters small boat finals and also ruled the 250-meter-distanced race of the same category.
In the 500m action, Gruppo Habagat finished with an elapsed time of two minutes and 27.25 seconds, edging the home team Boracay Dragonflies by three seconds.
Gruppo Habagat also repeated the same feat in the 250m action as they held the same Dragonflies team at second place.
Gruppo Habagat finished in one minute and 10.72 seconds while the Dragonflies were just two ticks behind at 1:12.72.
The team also put up respectable performances in the other categories.
Habagat finished third in the 250m mixed standard category while they also wound up fourth in the 500m men’s small boat category.
The next assignment of the team will be a home stand in the 1st Cebu Dragon Boat Festival, which is set this Friday.
