About P1.3 million worth of shabu were seized from a suspected drug pusher in a drug bust in Sitio Crusher, Barangay Lawaan 3 in Talisay City at past 5 p.m. last Sunday.
PO2 John Cyrus Ilustrisimo of the Talisay City police said the 41-year-old suspect identified as Yayam Gaviola, a resident of the area, was spotted by informants who reported his presence to their office.
Recovered from his possession was one medium pack of shabu and a transparent rectangular box containing four large packs of shabu weighing 110 grams and with a street value of P1.3 million.
Ilustrisimo also said police confiscated the P3,500 cash proceeds from Gaviola.
He said Gaviola avoided detection by paying off neighbors and hiring hitmen to protect him.
“It’s a good thing there were no hired killers during the buy-bust operation. If they were there, a shootout would have happened,” Ilustrisimo said.
Ilustrisimo said Gaviola is not a native of Talisay City but moved constantly around Cebu province to expand his drug trade and avoid arrest.
Gaviola is detained at the Talisay City police cell pending the filing of charges against him.
