THE Regional Peace and Order Council will hold a meeting at a still undisclosed venue on May 3 following several postponements.
Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III, who chairs the council, said the meeting was initially set on the second week of April.
But it was rescheduled the week after to give way to the Asean trade ministers meeting in Bohol province.
The encounters between the government troops and Abu Sayyaf bandits as well as a previous appointment by Regional Director Rene Burdeos of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) also caused the postponement.
“Burdeos is important because he heads the secretariat while some officials would not be available also. I want to ensure that all members will attend,” the governor said.
The regional security council is composed of chief executives of local government units (LGUs), line agencies, the PNP and the military in Central Visayas.
Davide was appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte as RPOC-7 chairman in January this year.
The governor officially assumed the post on February 15 after receiving his appointment papers.
Davide earlier said he would focus on issues of terrorism and the war against drugs during his term as RPOC chairperson.
