LIKE wine, Glenn Aguilar, seems to get better with age.
This after the 42-year-old rider tamed the younger Jon Eleazar Adlawan at the latter’s own turf last Sunday en route to winning two titles in the first leg of the Man and Machine Supercross Series 2017 at the SM Seaside City Cebu grounds at the South Road Properties (SRP).
Aguilar ruled the pro open and expert classes of the two-day race.
In the expert class, Aguilar defeated the 24-year-old Adlawan with Donark Yuzon rounding off the top three riders.
Aguilar also topped the pro open after Adlawan suffered a mechanical failure in the final four laps of the race. Jubenile Abellar finished second while Yuzon came in third.
In the intermediate division, Jougee Basco emerged the fastest rider with JB Bababac and Ehrjun Codeniera in second and third.
Codeniera topped the novice production class, beating JR Gualiza and Clark Codizar.
Lance Quinicot won the beginners’ production while Ren-ren Hisoler grabbed the second place.
The 40-above novice and 40-above expert champions were Joel Andrin and Rex Barbaso, respectively. Joy Jocson topped the 50-above novice division while Pepo Rubi ruled the 50-above expert division.
Other winners were Arniel Lacnit (veterans’ class), Joshua de Manuel (elite category), Hans Toresen (peewee 50cc), Jeanette Olanda (peewee 65cc), Dougee Basco (mini class), RK Cuesta (ladies division), Clinton Gualiza (local enduro), Willie Borces (underbone) and Rex Pepito (4×4 class).
Meanwhile, organizer Jonas Adlawan said he is hoping more sponsors will support the race for the good of the sport.
“We are very happy with the outcome of the first leg because we were able to draw around 150 riders even though we did not get enough sponsors for this race. We are hoping that more sponsors will support us in the coming legs so that we can promote motocross in Cebu,” said Adlawan, the top honcho of Man and Machine Promotions.
There will be a total of six legs in this series which, will all be held at the SM Seaside City Cebu grounds.
