SINCERITY

While social media is awash with posts of netizens greeting their mothers a Happy Mother’s Day, others were not so taken by the flood of sentimental greetings.

These cynics sarcastically remarked that the Mother’s Day posts appeared so heartwarming that it didn’t sound genuine enough.

They question whether those greeters actually spend enough quality time with their mothers or even bother to personally greet them even on the phone.

VOTING POWER

A city councilor was having second thoughts on presiding the City Council’s session as acting vice mayor since there was another councilor next in line for the post.

He raised this concern to other councilors who told him to just continue presiding the session. Those familiar with the sessions said he was doing it for another reason.

They suspect that the councilor wanted to add more voting power to the minority since as presiding officer, he could only vote to break a tie.

NO DENYING BONUS

A mayor who took over from his rival following a one-year protest assured local government employees that their mid-year bonus won’t be affected.

“It’s not my own money and it’s something that they worked for. They should get it,” he said.
