JAN Godfrey Seno’s title bid came to a screeching halt after the Cebuano tennis sensation faltered in the the second round of the 2nd ITF Terengganu International Junior Championship yesterday in Malaysia.
Seno, who took off to a great start after scoring a 6-0, 6-0 opening round win over Mika Nair, succumbed to the heavily favored, 16th seed Akanit Pumjit of Thailand 1-6, 3-6.
It was a double whammy for the Bogo City-native athlete as he and his Malaysian partner Shamirul Shahril Mohd Adam Das lost to the Australian tandem of Cihan Akay and Stefan Storch, 3-6, 6-3, 10-4, in the doubles division.
Despite suffering heartbreaking losses, the 17-year-old Seno was still satisfied with his performance.
Seno said he is looking forward to competing in more tournaments in the coming months.
“I’m after the exposure. I’m excited to play in a high level competition that will help me improve mentally,” Seno said.
