TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT

Traffic enforcers are now manning the intersection along N. Bacalso Avenue and P. del Rosario Street, prohibiting passengers from boarding jeepneys from nondesignated loading and unloading areas.

Many passengers were frustrated with this since they had to walk some distance to get to the jeepney stop. But others said now’s the time to follow rules.

“Di ta angay moreklamo kay mao man g’yud ni ang jeepney stop (It’s not right for us to complain because that’s where the jeepney stop is),” an old man said.

ROYAL BLOOD?

Rumors about Abu Asis being a son of a sultan in Mindanao rose following his death from the hands of troops on Pangangan Island.

Residents of the island who witnessed the encounter said Abu Ubayda tried to save Asis by allowing him to run first.

Asis and Ubayda were the last remaining Abu Sayyaf bandits who went to Bohol last April 10.

EXTENSION

Some officials in the province said they hope the barangay elections will be held this year.

But one barangay chairman said he hopes it gets postponed to give time for the government to implement reforms such as extending the tenure of barangay officials from three years to five years.

“One can only do so much in three years, and it’s a waste of resources to hold elections every three years,” the official said.
