DALAGUETE pulled off a close 86-84 win over Samboan to book a quarterfinal ticket in the South Division Bracket 2 of the 2017 Cebu Governor’s Cup 21-Under Inter-Cities/Municipalities Basketball Tournament at the Alcoy Municipal Gym, Wednesday night.
Also winning were Ginatilan and Oslob with the former frustrating the host squad Alcoy, 93-78, and Oslob trashing a winless Santander, 106-63.
Dalaguete pocketed its fourth win in six games and will host Alcoy tonight at the close of the elimination round in the South Division Bracket 2.
Also facing off at the Dalaguete Municipal Gym are Ginatilan (3-2) and Santander (0-5) at 5 p.m., while Oslob (3-2) battles Boljoon (2-3) at 6:30 p.m.
Samboan dropped to 4-2 (win-loss) but despite the loss to Dalaguete and even if Oslob and Ginatilan emerge victorious tonight, Samboan will still emerge as the number two seed in the division via the winner-over-the-other rule.
Samboan sank Oslob, 78-75, last April 9 then trampled Ginatilan, 94-77, last April 21.
In the North Division Bracket 3, Bogo City swept its elimination round assignment via a 99-75 dismantling of Sta. Fe at the Don Celestino Martinez Sports Complex in Bogo City, northern Cebu.
The other game saw Madridejos dumping San Remigio, 92-77.
Improving to 5-0, Bogo will be the number one seed in the quarterfinals, while the number two spot will be contested by Bantayan, Medellin and Madridejos, which sport identical 2-2 slates. Sta. Fe (2-3) and San Remegio (0-4) have been eliminated from playoff contention.
