570 students get hired for Lapu’s summer job program

MORE than 500 public high school students from the 19 barangays of Lapu-Lapu City were hired for the city’s summer job program.

The students have to work for only 10 days with a salary of P300 per day.

Mayor Paz Radaza said the program aims to give the students opportunity to earn.

The barangay captain of each of 19 barangays were tasked to select the beneficiaries of the program.

Most of the students were assigned in various jobs in their respective barangays, including the clean and green program.

Radaza said a total of 570 students availed of the summer job opportunity. She said the city has a limited budget for the program and could not accommodate all the student applicants.

Radaza hoped that the students would put into good use the money they would earn from the program like buying school requirements, including uniforms.

The summer job started last Monday and will end Friday next week. Each student will be paid P3,000.
