UNDERPASS PROJECT

Not all netizens were in agreement with the Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) proposed underpass project along N. Bacalso Avenue during the stakeholder’s meeting of the P683-million underpass aimed to ease traffic along the area.

Rochelle Oicapot suggested that instead of constructing an underpass, the government’s priority should be the widening of roads.

Oicapot wrote, “Nindot ang project, huot lang na diha dapita. Widening ta ang ilang proposal.”

Another netizen suggested that the better traffic solution is to phase out old jeepneys.

Hate Bin So also suggested that the best thing would be to widen the road and to include an underpass.

“Mas nindot ug road widening ug mag gama ug underpass para sure jud wala nay jud traffic,” said Hate Bin So.

During their meeting, DPWH-7 Regional Director Ador Canlas said rerouting scheme for public utility jeepneys will be done on June 7 and 8 since portions of the road will have to be closed to give way for the project.

If all goes well during the dry run, the first phase of the project will begin a week after the dry run.
