AIR STRIKES
After Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana announced that at least 11 soldiers were killed and seven others injured in an air strike aimed at the Maute terrorists in Marawi City, netizens were quick in offering their condolences to the families of the soldiers and the victims.
However, some netizens were furious over what they believed to be a debacle, saying this would not have happened if enough practice and training were given to the troops.
Gemma Lao Enlope wrote, “Wala man gud practice.. Karon ra gyd na sila na practice. Luoya sa mga sundalo. Wala jud ni ayo (They don’t have practice. They only practiced now. The soldiers were far away. This is not good).”
Another netizen wrote that this would not have happened if intensive planning was done before the operation.
Grace Lawas also wrote that since the beginning of warfare, there are no winners in every war in history.
“Kahit kailan walang nanalo sa giyera (Even before no one wins in war). (For both sides) it’s a waste of time,” Lawas said.
Soldiers are still trying to clear Marawi City of the Maute terrorists who have been using civilians as human shields since they invaded the city on Tuesday last week.
