REROUTING PAINS

Cebuanos were told to leave their houses early to avoid being late, since a two-day rerouting scheme for passenger jeepneys took effect starting yesterday for the construction of the P683-million underpass project at the intersection of N. Bacalso Ave. and F. Llamas Street.

However, not all netizens supported the rerouting scheme schedule since the first week of class just started.

Shirley Dinolang Rosales wrote: “During vacation break there was no work now that there’s classes, why now? We are still adjusting to class schedules…”

Another netizen also suggested that a better traffic solution is to phase out old jeepneys.

Warren Rosa suggested that the best solution to the traffic problem is to widen the roads.

During the rerouting, at least 45 traffic enforcers will be deployed in the alternative roads within the project site during the dry run on Wednesday and Thursday.

Affected barangays during the rerouting are Barangays Mambaling, Labangon, Tisa, Punta Prencesa, Quiot, Basak Pardo, Cogon Pardo and Basak San Nicolas which are near the project site.
