Thirteen persons were arrested after they were caught with illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia and a firearm at a police checkpoint along M. Logarta St. in Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City on Monday.
Senior Insp. Genilo Veraque, Subangdaku Police Station chief, said 12 persons, who were either caught in possession of suspected shabu or drug paraphernalia, are namely: Julieto Abellana, 28, of Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City; Mark Galvez, 19, of Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City; Reynante Canumay, 38, of Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City; Rio Tubio, 31, of Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City; Noel Rafols, 42, of Sta. Lucia, Consolacion; Arnel Dejeto, 28, of Umapad, Mandaue City; Leo Quilongquilong, 32, of Humay-Humay, Lapu-Lapu City; Marwin Minoza, 26, of Umapad, Mandaue City; Edwin Saraosos, 44, of Basak Pardo, Cebu City; Jeovany Debalucos, 39, of Pagsabungan, Mandaue City; Roy Balase, 25, of Canduman, Mandaue City; and Gerson Llamido, 24, of Kandulawan, Minglanilla.
Veraque said Albert Tubosa, 31, of Suba, Cebu City, was caught in possession of an unlicensed .38 revolver.
The Subangdaku Police Station chief said that they set up a police checkpoint at 3 a.m. on Monday along M. Logarta street in Barangay Subangdaku, which was part of the activities to be conducted when the red alert status would be raised.
The red alert status was raised then because of the threats of terrorism and the regular conduct of anti-criminality operations.
He said that they stopped PUJs and motorcycles at the checkpoint, which led to the arrest of the suspects and the confiscation of a gun and suspected shabu.
