Given green light to shoot, Cebuano cager helps Racal score 50-point win over Zark’s
Former two-time Cesafi MVP Macmac Tallo turned in another sterling performance as his Racal Alibaba feasted on Zark’s Burger, 140-90, in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup yesterday at the Ynares Sports Arena.
The ex-Southwestern University standout tallied 26 points, three rebounds, and five assists in a record performance by Racal for most points scored in a game. Racal eclipsed the previous record held by Tanduay in a 133-78 win over the Mindanao Aguilas in the Foundation Cup last year.
Tallo’s hot shooting streak comes on the heels of his 20-point debut in the last game.
The son of one-time PBA player, Mark Tallo, said that his coach Jerry Codiñera gave him the green light to attack the defense.
“Coach told me that if I want to be a two-guard, I should keep on shooting and driving. So I have the license to shoot. But he also said timing is important,” Tallo said after their match.
The 6-foot guard kept his foot on the ground and focused on the work ahead.
“That’s just two games. There are more games coming so I need extra work,” he added.
Tallo’s former mentor, Yayoy Alcoseba, said that he isn’t at all surprised with how well his ward is playing in the D-League.
“I am not surprised at all because he has the skills to play at the next level,” said the new head coach of the University of Cebu.
Kent Salado also became just the third player to post a triple double with a dazzling performance that came with 11 points 10 rebounds, and 13 assists against a single turnover.
