THE Cebu City Sports Commission (CCSC) looks to not only impart knowledge but is also aiming to provide means of income to game officials when it spearheads the staging of a series of seminars for referees in 80 barangays in Cebu City.
The Referees Training Program, which will start in the second week of July, will be facilitated by top game officials from Manila, said CCSC Commissioner Allan Delantar.
Delantar recalled that the last time the CCSC was able to conduct seminars for barangay referees was in 2014 under the chairmanship of Jonathan Guardo.
Delantar added the CCSC will be focusing on volleyball and basketball to help the barangays have their own officials in their tournaments.
In the current situation, barangays tap referees from private groups to officiate their tournaments.
The seminars are open to all interested individuals, Delantar said.
