Ycong, Pañibon win elite crowns

Rotary Corporate Triathlon

JORY Ycong of Repro Optima and Rue Reinhardt Pañibon of the Organique Triathlon Team emerged as victors in the elite division of the inaugural Rotary Corporate Triathlon held yesterday at the Mactan Newtown Beach in Lapu-Lapu City .

Ycong topped the men’s elite division of the race that featured a 1.6-kilometer swim, 50k bike and 10k run in two hours, 21 minutes and 28 seconds.

Christian Lloyd Saladaga of the Ford Forza Triathlon finished second with a time of 2:25.09 while Mary Joy Tabal’s trainer John Philip Dueñas of the Motorace Philippines racing team settled for third, clocking 2:26.20.

In the women’s elite division, Pañibon crossed the finish line in 2:56.50 to win the crown.

Louie Villacin of WS Tri Team placed second with a time of 3:10.01 while Maria Victoria Tan of Repro Optima rounded off the top three, finishing in 3:11.04.

Organique Triathlon Team A and B, meanwhile finished 1-2 in the corporate team challenge.

Team A had the fastest accumulated split times from its six triathletes with 11 hours, two minutes and 29 seconds while team B had a time of 13:05.46. Tri-Oval placed third (12:53.46).

In the relay division, Tribu Lapu-Lapu Teams also finished 1-2. Repro Optima finished third.

Around 300 triathletes joined the race organized by the Rotary Club of Cebu for the benefit of children with congenital heart disease.
