THE CEBU City Sports Center’s (CCSC) football field will be ready for Global Cebu FC’s first home game against rival Ceres Negros FC on July 5 in the ongoing Philippines Football League (PFL).
CCSC manager Ricky Ballesteros said the rehabilitation of the field is almost done since only a small portion of the football pitch needed to be fixed.
“We started rehabilitating last May and we are almost done,” Ballesteros said. “I just want to apologize for the inconvenience of those who regularly practice at the pitch because we have to suspend their activities to give way to this exciting match.”
Taking the lead in the rehabilitation of the football pitch is the CCSC management and the Cebu Football Association (CFA).
Since the start of PFL, Global Cebu FC has been playing at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Metro Manila, unlike other football clubs which have their own playing fields.
“It’s a regular game of the PFL and CFA is taking the lead in rehabilitating the field,” said CFA vice president Rico Navarro.
Global Cebu is looking to avenge its 1-0 loss to Ceres Negros FC last June 3 at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City.
Global Cebu has a 2-1-1 (win-loss-draw) record while Ceres Negros has a 1-0-1 slate.
