CCSC football field will be ready

Global Cebu FC home game

The Cebu Football Association (CFA) is doubling its efforts to finish the rehabilitation of the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) football pitch in time for the first home game of Global Cebu FC in the Philippines Football League (PFL) against Ceres Negros FC on July 5.

CFA’s Rodney Orale said they are poised to finish the rehabilitation on time. He said the field is now completely covered with grass after a month of giving it proper care and maintenance. He added that they are now in the process of leveling the pitch.

“We are in the final stages of preparing the pitch. We will start leveling the pitch so that we can flatten any mounds and hollow areas. It’s been a long time since we rehabilitated this pitch. The last time was when the Azkals faced Malaysia for a friendly match so it really took a lot of hard work for us to prepare the pitch,” Orale said.

The Azkals-Malaysia friendly game was held last April 2014.

Aside from preparing the pitch, Orale also mentioned they are looking to replace busted bulbs around the field.
Another Azkals game in Cebu

Once the field is ready, Orale said they will make sure it will stay in tip-top shape since Global Cebu FC is scheduled to have a six home games from July to August. There will be two home games in July and three in August, according to Orale.

He also revealed that the Philippine Azkals will play another friendly match either in August or September.

“We at CFA do not settle for mediocrity in preparing the facility for both PFL home games and Azkals game. We want to set high standards from the dressing rooms to media conference rooms. We want to cover all aspects with high standards so that we receive nothing but positive feedback,” Orale said.

Global Cebu FC recently won against Ilocos United FC, 3-0, at the President Elpidio Quirino Stadium in Vigan City. It currently totes a 3-1-1 (win-loss-draw) record for third place in the standings.
