IT was a partnership that will surely benefit the country’s endangered oceans.
Renowned long distance swimmer Ingemar Macarine and famed triathlete Frank Lacson will swim together in the rough seas of Bataan to Zambales today.
The 39-year-old Macarine and Lacson will swim a total of 10-kilometers from Grande Island, Bataan to Driftwood Beach in Olongapo City, the first time this part will be swam.
The attempt will be Macarine and Lacson’s second partnership.
Lacson is known as the “Father of Philippine Triathlon” being the inaugural champion of the Philippine National Triathlon Championships in 1992. He has conquered 143 triathlons in his career and is now a wellness and nutrition coach.
They first partnered last year in a 10k open water swim along Subic Bay, finishing it in three hours and 47 minutes.
“The waters there is said to be very rough so we are expecting a difficult swim but we are up to the challenge,” Macarine told CDN.
Macarine recently logged his 28th successful open water swim when he crossed from Camiguin Island to Calamcam Beach in the Municipality of Talisayan, Misamis Oriental last month covering 24 kilometers in seven hours and 47 minutes.
