The Cebu chapter of the Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals (BCBP) will be holding a fun run dubbed “Be Honest Run”on Aug. 27.
The fun run, which starts and ends the Biliran Road of the Cebu Business Park, aims to raise funds to help the displaced people of Marawi City and at the same time spread its “Be Honest” advocacy.
Headed by running patron John Pages, who is also a member of BCBP, the group officially launched the running event yesterday at the Mooon Café in Cebu IT Park. Joining Pages were fellow members Mario Siao, Ani Serrato, Alan Larot, Boy Villanueva, Ed Shan, Sim Lanaria and Jun Tagalog.
“The funds raised for this run will be used to help out the community and especially the people of Marawi City. In fact we already encouraged our fellow BCBP members to donate for Marawi City,” said Villanueva.
Aside from raising funds, BCBP members also want to strengthen their “Be Honest” advocacy.
“We want to tell the community to be honest especially our government officials,” said Serato.
BCBP is a 37-year-old catholic community with 106 chapters all over the globe. Cebu has 14 chapters with around 3,000 members, according to Villanueva. The group is recognized by the Archdioceses of Cebu.
The fun run will have 2-kilometer, 4k and 8k distances. It will not be a competitive run but Pages said they will give out exciting prizes to the winning runners.
“What’s important is that we can spread the advocacy, help out Marawi City, get fit and enjoy a morning run,” said Pages.
Registration fee for all three distances is pegged at P300 inclusive of the race singlet and bib. To register, one can email behonestrun@gmail.com.
Pages added that they will open a registration booth at the Ayala Center Cebu’s Active Zone in August.
