EGGED on by their rabid supporters, the Consolacion Sarok Weavers lived to fight another day and forged a winner-take-all Game 3 as they trashed the Minglanilla Archangels, 91–64, in Game 2 of the 2017 Cebu Governor’s Cup Under-21 Inter-Cities/Municipalities Basketball Tournament Finals series last Wednesday night at the packed Consolacion National High School Gym.
Bouncing back from their 70-77 debacle in Minglanilla, the Sarok Weavers used a torrid first quarter to force Game 3, which will be held on Sunday at the University of San Carlos Gym on Sanciangko Street, Cebu City.
Tip-off for the all-important match will be at 3 p.m.
Consolacion missed the services of injured Cyril Sabellana, but the absence of the top forward hardly mattered as the Sarok Weavers took full control of the match that saw them leading by as many as 30 points.
The only time that the game was close was when Minglanilla forced a 2–2 deadlock. Consolacion ended the first period with a 12–2 attack to post a 30–15 advantage.
MInglanilla heavily felt the scoring woes of Mark Justine Nebril, who was held scoreless after firing a team-high 20 points in their Game 1 victory.
In stark contrast, scoring was not a problem for Consolacion, which got 36 points from its bench with Emmanuel Villamor leading the Sarok Weavers’ offensive with 18 points.
