Two ex-convicts caught smuggling shabu to inmates

Two ex-convicts were arrested by police after they were caught smuggling shabu inserted between reams of cigarettes that they threw to inmates at the Cebu City Jail yesterday morning.

Police found two small packs of shabu inserted between cigarettes that were thrown by Raffy Magallanes and Biboy Ramos along with shabu paraphernalia and one cell phone.

Magallanes denied smuggling shabu to inmates and said he was hired by Ramos to drive him to the jail.

Ramos said he didn’t resist arrest because he knew he was not guilty. But both men later tested positive for drug use.

Both men served time at the Cebu City Jail. Ramos spent two months on robbery charges, while Magallanes served time from 2008 to 2010 on illegal drug charges.

Cebu City Jail Warden Arnel Peralta said the cell phone bore a message to a certain “Boss Hunky,” the contact person of the two men. Peralta said they will augment security around the jail to prevent smuggling of drugs there.

Elsewhere, several drug suspects were caught in anti-drug operations in Cebu province.

In Barangay Matab-ang, Toledo City, police arrested Renald Segue Juarez, the alleged hit man of suspected drug dealer Jay Jareño who was killed in a shootout with agents of the regional Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-7) last year.

In Barangay Maghaway, Talisay City, police arrested a certain Robert Fernandez who yielded 12 sachets of shabu worth P4,000 and one loaded pistol.
In Consolacion town, police arrested Christian Caingcoy who yielded five sachets of shabu, and later arrested brothers John Ray Rundio and Tendon

in Barangay Nangka. Confiscated from the two men were several sachets of shabu.

Later at midnight, police arrested Christopher Lumapas of Barangay Tugbungan and seized from his possession four sachets of shabu.
