THE LONG break is a huge help for Global Cebu FC as it prepares for another Philippine Football League (PFL) home game against the Davao Aguilas FC this Sunday at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) football field.
The team is in the middle of a weeklong break following a 3-0 win over Stallions Laguna FC last Sunday at the same venue.
Global Cebu head coach Marjo Allado said an entire week is enough for his players to recover from their respective injuries, especially goal keeper Patrick Deyto, who injured his left knee in the team’s first home game last July 5 against the visiting Ceres Negros FC.
“In fact, we only need a few days we are good to go to play again,” Allado said.
Global Cebu is so far perfect since playing at the CCSC and Allado wants to keep it that way, shooting for a third straight win when it faces the Aguilas.
“We are looking forward to play against Davao Aguilas and the objective is to keep a perfect record here in Cebu,” added Allado.
The long rest was made possible after the Meralco Manila Sparks FC, which Global Cebu was supposed to face today at the CCSC, requested to move the game to July 22.
The Sparks lead the standings with 23 points while Global Cebu is at second with 20 points. The Davao Aguilas are currently at sixth place in the standings with four points.
Meanwhile, Global Cebu’s team captain Misagh Bahadoran is using the long break to visit at Cebu’s famed beaches this week.
“We worked so hard for the matches in Cebu and finally we can have a one-week rest so I will visit Cebu’s beaches and relax there before we face Davao on Sunday,” said Bahadoran.
On Friday, fans will have a chance to meet the team in a Fans Day event at the Mountain View Atrium of the SM Seaside City Cebu at 6 p.m.
