All set for 4th Baddicts Stars Badminton

SOME 140 players, including those from Dumaguete and Ormoc have already confirmed their support for the Baddicts Stars’ goal to revive the fun in competitive badminton here in Cebu.

The 4th Baddicts Stars Badminton Tournament which will be held tomorrow, 4 p.m. onwards at Racquetzone Sports Center, hopes to address the clamor for more credible badminton tournament handling devoid of politicking and vested interests.

“Since we received [an] overwhelming number of entries for G+, we will break it up to two levels. This is to give more chances of winning for the players. So the levels now are E, F, G+, G and G-,” Nove Trapa explained in his recent tournament update.

Now with five categories, tournament organizers will prove their tenacity as they only have eight courts at their disposal.

Champions for levels E and F will pocket P2,500 along with medals while their runners-up will receive P1,500 plus medals. Levels G+, G, and G-champions will get P2,000 and medals while their runners-up will receive P1,000 and medals.

Badminton rackets, bags, and overgrips will also be raffled off.

As a side feature, some members of the Cebu Mobile Shutterbugs — a group of photography enthusiasts — will cover the event and compete in a photo contest, capturing the essence of Camaraderie through their smartphone cameras. The winning photo will earn a corresponding cash prize from CMS, a gift prize from Baddicts Stars and will be published with credits alongside tournament results in Cebu Daily News, the event’s media partner.
