Following a series of hoax bomb threats in Cebu City schools, the city government held a security briefing among the City Hall department heads on Friday.
The briefing is aimed to prepare employees on possible emergency cases such as bomb threats, fire, earthquake and terrorism.
Cebu City councilor Dave Tumulak said the department heads of the city hall are encouraged to have full awareness of the emergency protocols.
“It should be the government that will serve as a role model. For now, emergency protocols are being drafted. Department heads will be given copies so they can relay it to their employees,” Tumulak said.
He added that the security and the level of consciousness on security and preparedness should be enhanced.
Tumulak also urged the department heads to be keen on the people visiting their offices.
“Kun naay something unusual, ilang i-report sa mga authorities dayon ug dapat kahibaw sila unsaon nila pag-approach ang ingon ana nga situation (If they notice something unusual, they should immediately report it to the authorities and they should also know how to deal with the situation,)” Tumulak said.
During emergencies, Tumulak reminded people to remain calm and avoid injuring each other.
He assured that the government, as well as the police, will treat all threats as serious and will take immediate actions.
