CEBU CITY Sports Center general manager Ricky Ballesteros announced that games in the 23rd Cebu City Olympics may be postponed if tropical storm “Yolanda” enters the Visayas region in the next couple of days.
The annual multi-sporting event is set to start today and will end on Sunday.
The tropical storm, which the state weather bureau said has a chance of becoming a super typhoon, is threatening to enter the Philippine area of responsibility within the next 48 hours.
If the storm maintains its current course, it will cut through the Visayas within the next two days and will exit through Mindoro on Sunday. If that happens, all events of the City Olympics will have to be postponed.
“If they issue na gani ug Signal no.1, automatic gyud I-postpone ang tanan events as part of our security measures,” Ballesteros said. “We’ll resume pagkahuman sa typhoon.”
