EVERY coaches’ aspiration is to see their athletes play at the highest level.
Such is the case of Cebu Junior Dragons head coach Maggie Royo, who has spent countless time and effort in the hopes of transforming grassroots talents into national superstars.
Finally, her hard work paid off.
This is after her Cebuano players Khrislord Balbuena, Melvin Lim and Edison Ablanque were selected to join the Philippine Volcanoes – National Developmental Rugby Team.
“I’m very happy because our hard work had results. They are coming from the grassroots program and they really learned to play rugby (football) here,” said a proud Royo.
The Cebuano trio will be tested next month when they play their first international match against the Hong Kong U-19 squad in an exhibition game in Southern Plains, Laguna.
