Batch 94, 98 and 2001 still alive in USC-NABC

 

THE 1994 Bulldogs, the 2001 Lite Shipping and the 1998 Flyboys all kept their respective bids for titles in the USC North Alumni Basketball Conference Summer League 2 Powered by Common Ground alive, as they hacked out wins in their Game 2s on Friday night at the USC North Campus gym.

The Bulldogs, after suffering their very first defeat in the competition in Game 1, bit back and dropped the 1993 Dragons, 64-60, in Game 2 of the Division 1 finals. Sigmund Cabrera put on an all-around show as he tallied 21 points, 10 rebounds, three steals and three blocked shots to help his batch tie the series up at 1-1.

In Division 2, 2001 Lite Shipping refused to let their ship sink as they grabbed Game 2, 65-62. Mythical Five members AJ San Juan and Conrad Plando along with Igor Villaluz took the reins and steered their squad to the equalizing win.

San Juan had 15 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and four blocks while both Plando and Villaluz put up 12 points and eight rebounds each.

Meanwhile in Division 3, the 2008 Flyboys soared past the 2002 Lions, 98-93, in a thrilling overtime match. Nilton Otida put the Flyboys on his back and carried them past the Lions with a tremendous 32-point, 10-rebound, three-assist, five-steal performance.

Miko Santos also helped out with 21 markers while Nico Magat returned from a one-game absence and flirted with a rare quadruple-double of 13 points, six rebounds, 10 assists and seven steals.

The NABC Summer League 2 concludes with the deciding Game 3s this afternoon at the same venue.
