Team Samsam chalks up 36-point victory over ASPA

THE DEFENDING champions Team Samsam, SG-ARQ Builders and the Fighter Wine all nabbed victories at the start of the Emil’s Fresh Chicken Cup Invitational on Saturday night at the Minglanilla Sports Complex.

Team Samsam creamed the ASPA Formworks, 129-93, behind a balanced scoring attack led by Jay Collado, who had 20 points.

Four others scored in double-figures with Joevanie Aguilar adding 18, Dino Daa putting in 15, Gileant Delator chipping in 12 and Dennis Daa pumping in 10.

In the second game, the SG-ARQ Builders rode the hot shooting of Eman Calo, who canned five triples, on his way to registering 38 points in their 109-84 win over Riss Lending/Eagle Express.

Aside from Calo, helping out were former Cebu Institute of Technology-University standout Vincent Minguito, who scored 14, and ex-University of San Jose-Recoletos ace Lyndon Gudez, who had 12 markers.

In the nightcap, Fighter Wine topped San Remigio Properties, 102-95.

Leading the way for Fighter Wine were the veteran combo of ex-PBA forward Danny Aying, who had 28 points while Jayford Rodriguez had 27 markers.
