THE SHARKS defeated the Rams, 82-76, in the ninth season of the Elite Basketball Club – Cebu last weekend at the Visayan Glass Gym in Brgy. Guadalupe, Cebu City.
The duo of John Cabahug and Prince Malana were on fire as they combined for 39 points for the defending champion Sharks, who won their semis match against the Rams last season.
Cabahug finished with 20 points while the six-foot Malana added 19 markers as the Sharks improved their win-loss record to 3-1.
Meanwhile, Carld Edpan scattered 33 points to lead the Wolves past the Tigers, 66-60.
Reigning MVP Armando de Jesus’ 29 points was not enough to save the Tigers from suffering their first loss in four games. The Wolves tied their season record at 2-2.
The Lions also went up 3-1 after trouncing the struggling Cheetahs, 83-76.
The towering Lorenzo Bacaltos led the Lions in scoring with 22 points while Manuel Jalmanzar led the Cheetah’s side with 26 markers.
In the other games, the Panthers (3-1) defeated the Bulldogs (3-1), 59-49, while the Stallions (2-2) cruised past the Jaguars (0-4), 72-65.
