OJ Clarino delivered the winning goal in the second half as Global Cebu downed Meralco FC Manila, 2-1, in the Philippine Football League (PFL) on Wednesday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Clarino broke the deadlock off the bench with a goal in the 68th minute as Global Cebu redeemed itself from a 2-2 draw against the same team in their last outing.
Global Cebu, thus, logged its seventh win against four draws and two losses in the tournament. It still trails Meralco at third place in the standings with 25 points. Meralco has 27 off three wins, three losses, and two draws.
Global Cebu’s first goal was courtesy of an own-goal by former defender Milan Nikolic in the 17th minute.
Simon Greatwich tied the game with a goal in the 45th minute.
Then Clarino, who came in for Misagh Bahadoran in the 55th minute, found the back of the net to give Global the win.
On Saturday, Global Cebu will host the struggling Ilocos United at the Cebu City Sports Center at 4:00 p.m.
