HARLEY Davidson authored the biggest upset of the new season so far as it stunned the defending champions Cebu Landmasters, 69-59, in Division A of the 22nd Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association Basketball Tournament Powered by Common Ground on Sunday at the Magis Eagles Arena in Canduman, Mandaue City.
Elddie Cabahug, Gio Laguyo, Antonio Datan and Travis Mantua took turns doing damage to the Landmasters’ defense and come away with their second straight win while dropping the Landmasters to 1-1.
Cabahug led the way with 15 points, Laguyo added 13 markers, four rebounds and three assists, Datan chipped in 12 while Mantua contributed 11 points and five rebounds.
Harley Davidson got off to a fast start in the first half, and built a 31-21 lead at the turn. It kept the pressure on and raised it to 16, 52-36, heading to the final period.
Daryle Tan had 18 for the Landmasters while Moncrief Rogado made just 10 on a horrendous 1-of-8 shooting clip.
In the other Division A match, Gaisano Capital routed the Ateneo de Cebu Team B, 80-55. Alphonsus Doyon was at the point of Gaisano’s attack as he put up 19 points and five steals while big man Mavii Suarez imposed himself inside and logged in 11 points and six boards to help the team even up their record at 1-1.
