CPDRC woes

Controversies continue to hound the people running the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC).

The latest of which involves two jail guards who are being investigated after they attempted to bring out P69,000 cash out of the facility.

The apprehension of the jail guards sparked anger among the netizens, especially since they are supposed to be ones guarding the inmates, and yet they are the ones breaking the law.

Hoferson Ejercito posted on Facebook: “Terminate every single guard today. If two of their colleagues are doing this, we can be sure that they all know about this. They may not be in it, but by tolerating the activity, they are already part of it.”

Another Facebook user named William Hider also commented. “Contraband doesn’t get into a jail to that degree without inside help. How can the governor of the jail tolerate this situation?”

Mel Watson said, “Now they haven’t got a job and will be seen as untrustworthy.”

With this latest controversy, Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III visited the CPDRC and met the staff at the facility.
