CORRUPTION in Cebu City Hall is shooing away bidders for city projects.
Mayor Tomas Osmeña admitted that the issue of dishonesty among City Hall workers has been prevailing even during his term, before he became congressman.
“Ang reklamo sa mga bidders man gud, kung walay kikik, they aren’t paid immediately (The bidders complained that if there is no bribe, they aren’t paid immediately),” Osmeña revealed.
He said he would track down those officials who are doing such malpractice to put an end to these abuses.
Osmeña said he would invite other personalities from outside Cebu City to help him in getting more bidders for the city’s projects.
“If there are more bidders, there will be better prices,” asserted Osmeña.
The mayor said that he has talked with the officials of the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) who agreed to cash out the service fees for suppliers and contractor with lower interest rates charged to the city treasury.
“Even if the processing for their project will be delayed, the suppliers will still get their money,” explained Osmeña.
