GLOBAL Cebu FC tries to bounce back from a loss when it collides with Kaya Makati FC in a Philippines Football League (PFL) game at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) tonight.
Game time is at 7 p.m.
Global Cebu is coming off a 5-2 defeat to JP Voltes Marikina FC last Aug. 13 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Metro Manila. The loss dropped Global Cebu FC to third place with eight wins, three losses and four draws good for 28 points.
Kaya Makati also has 28 points from a record of 8-5-4 (win-loss-draw) but it holds on to second place due to a bigger goal difference. Leading the standings is Meralco Manila with 36 points (11-2-3).
Global Cebu has to move on from the loss and look to retake the number two spot which it held for quite some time.
“The last game was already done. It is over. We have to move on for tomorrow’s (tonight) game against Kaya,” said head coach Akbar Nawas in a pre-match press conference yesterday at the Cebu Football Association (CFA) office. “What we are really thinking right now is how we will set ourselves up [for the next game].”
Global Cebu will welcome back Patrick Deyto, who served his suspension in the game against Marikina.
Kaya Makati FC’s head coach Noel Marcaida is expecting a huge game from Global, which is playing at home and coming off a loss.
“I think all teams that come from a defeat have that mentality to bounce back. On our side we are here to accept that challenge,” Marcaida said.
Global Cebu edged Kaya Makati, 3-2, in their first meeting last May in Manila.
