FROM portraying the miracle boy Santino in the hit ABS-CBN teleserye “May Bukas Pa” in 2009 until his role as Emong in the 2015 teleserye, “Hawak Kamay,” young actor Zaijan Jaranilla has proven that he is one good actor.
This Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (PPP), Jaranilla once again proves himself as he played the role of Rashid, a Muslim street child in the film “Hamog” (Haze), one of the festival’s 12 official entries.
The story talks about the reality faced by street children including being peddlers and petty criminals.
The film also stars Teri Malvar (as Jinky), Bon Andrew Lentejas (as Moy) and Sam Quintana (Tisoy).
Jaranilla, who attended the PPP Thanksgiving Night at Whitespace Manila in Makati City, last Sunday posted a photo of him on his Instagram account (zaijg) together with Liza Dino-Seguerra, chair of Film Development Council of the Philippines.
“Thank you so much po and congratulations Ms. @lizadino you deserve it po. Saludo ako sa dedikasyon niyo and The Dream Project. Soon po. #pppthanksgivingnight,” Zaijan said in the post.
The film is directed and written by Ralston G. Jover and was an official entry to the Cinema One Originals in 2015.
“Hamog” won the Outstanding Artistic Achievement Golden Goblet Award at the 2016 Shanghai International Film Festival. It also won for Malvar the St. George Prize for Best Actress at the 38th Moscow International Film Festival.
