YOUTH SUSPECT
A 17-year-old boy arrested in a drug bust in Barangay Pulpogan, Consolacion, northern Cebu last Tuesday drew mixed reactions from netizens.
Jonathan Hobley said, “Yes! Catch them! Don’t kill them! They are just Children! Also do not put PNP under such pressure! Half of Filipinos want them prosecuted and half want them to kill more people! Remember what you asked for!”
A netizen, Ray Jones, said, “Prosecute young offenders? Does the Philippines have any juvenile detention centres, or would they be locked up with adult prisoners? if locked with adult prisoners, then they are likely to return to society as serial offenders! Obviously releasing them to their parents supervision wudn’t be effective.”
Another netizen, Paul Gotiong, wrote, “Parents should be put to jail if minors are caught. They are being used. In our case, these kids cannot be put to jail and can easily be released and may do it again.”
