OMB opens Cebu City office

A SECOND satellite office was opened by the Optical Media Board (OMB) at the Department of Trade and Industry’s office (DTI) in Cebu City yesterday.

OMB licensing assistant Irene Martellino said Cebu-based businesses engaged in optical or digital media can apply for their license in their satellite office instead of going to Manila.

“The Manila base does the processing. But the satellite office accepts, assesses and checks requirements so that the business owners would not need to inquire in Manila. It would be a hassle for them to go to Manila,” she said.

Martellino said they can e-mail the completed requirements to Manila, and the applicants would receive their license after five days.

“We release licenses for those businesses who sell optical media discs, CDs, hard drives, software, games, films, music, DVDs, disc writing, CD burning, i-cafes, everything under OMB,” she said.

Martellino said OMB noted a lot of existing optical media businesses here in Cebu.

The OMB regulates the manufacture of optical media in all forms and imposes fines and penalties for its illegal production.

Last month, OMB opened their first satellite office in Mindanao in Davao City.
