Tepora eyes WBO interim featherweight title

UNDEFEATED Omega Boxing Gym stalwart Jhack Tepora takes on South African Lusanda Komanisi for the WBO interim featherweight title on Sept. 23 in East London, South Africa.

The 24-year-old Tepora was supposed to defend his WBO Oriental super bantamweight title against Mexican Emmanuel Dominguez in the main event of the Who’s Next 5 last July 5. But the fight was canceled less than two weeks before the fight night due to an injury to Christian Araneta, the co-main event fighter.

Tepora is undefeated in 20 fights and has 15 knockouts victories.

Lusanda Komanisi, a 27-year-old African, sports a 21-3-0 (win-loss-draw) record with 18 KO wins.

He won the IBO featherweight title with a split decision against Roli Gasca last Dec. 15, 2014 and knocked out the Pinoy in their rematch on Oct. 16, 2015.

To prepare for his biggest fight, Tepora will train with the national boxing team in Baguio City for weeks starting on Aug. 28.
