Landmasters get back at Harley-Davidson

 

THE DEFENDING Division A champions, Cebu Landmasters, exacted revenge on Harley-Davidson with an 82–75 win in the 22nd Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABAA) Basketball Tournament Powered by Common Ground last Sunday at the Magis Eagles Arena in Canduman, Mandaue City.

The Landmasters wasted no time in going to work to atone for the 59–69 loss they suffered at the hands of Harley-Davidson in the first round as they surged in front, 33–12, after the first 10 minutes of action.

They eventually raised the lead to 24, 52–28, at halftime before cruising the rest of the way to hand Harley-Davidson its first loss of the tournament and forge a tie with its victims at the top with a 4–1 (win-loss) slate.

PBA D-League standout Moncrief Rogado torched the defense of Harley-Davidson to the tune of 26 points highlighted by five-of-seven shooting from beyond the arc. Versatile forward Daryle Tan added 19 points, four rebounds, two steals and two blocked shots.Fletcher Galvez and Travis Mantua had 19 and 14 points, respectively for Harley-Davidson.

In the other Division A match, Gaisano Capital earned its second win of the tournament with an 84–69 beatdown of Ateneo de Cebu’s Team B.
Robert Gilo had 14 points and six rebounds while guards Nino Araw-Araw and Ed Macasling added 11 each for Gaisano Capital, which improved to 2–3.
