ON its second year, the University of San Carlos (USC) Montessori Run promises a fun-filled and festive race tomorrow at the spacious USC Talamban Campus.
Race organizers have installed a bubble machine this year to provide more fun.
To formally launch the running event, a press conference was held yesterday at the USC Montessori campus in uptown Cebu City attended by the running event’s organizing committee composed of the school’s teachers namely Julie Anne Remedio, Maria Evan Neo, Dorothy Mae Gegremosa, Bernadeth Mancao, Mia Leah Dabalos, Stephani Frances Cueva along with veteran race director Joel Juarez of Coco Running.
The non-competitive race will have a 100-meter dash, 1k family run and 3k individual race exclusive for USC Montessori students, parents, guardians and faculty members.
“It will be more fun this time because on our first year on 2015, we held the run very early at the South Road Properties (SRP) and we only had few participants because students don’t like to wake up early,” said Mancao.
“This time we will hold the run at 4 p.m. and we added the bubble concept which is fun for the kids.”
A total of 900 participants mostly USC Montessori students will join the run which is in line with the school’s 10th anniversary. It is also the culminating activity of the school’s ‘Montessori Days’ celebration.
To make the running event safe for the participants, Juarez said they will use the area within USC-TC.
Medals as well as certificates await the winning runners in each distance.
