CYNTHIA Thomalla of Cebu City and Ethel Abellanosa of Tuburan will compete with other 33 candidates tonight for the Miss World Philippines 2017 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Thomalla wears sash number 32 while Abellanosa is candidate no. 16.
In a text message to Cebu Daily News, Thomalla said she’s both excited and nervous. “I know God knows what my heart wants, and I believe He will give me what I deserve. I will continue to be the best beauty queen I could ever be,” she added.
She said it is also an honor for her to represent Cebu in the Miss World Philippines competition.
“There’s pride and pressure at the same time since Cebu has produced a lot of national and international beauty queens. I want to make Cebu proud,” she added.
Thomalla’s advocacy is about suicidal prevention awareness.
“I want people to know that they have someone to run to. We never know what a person is going through in life. With one simple act of kindness, understanding and respect can make a difference. We have a power to prevent suicide through the act of kindness, showing respect and understanding. These values don’t cost anything so we should sprinkle it everywhere, and save the lives of many,” she added.
Thomalla has been working out for more than a month as part of her preparations.
“And I have been eating a lot of healthy food not only for a healthy body but also for an active mind,” she added.
She said she also visited Basilica Minore del Santo Niño to ask for guidance and protection before she went to Manila for the screening.
