GOOD OR BAD IDEA?
Netizens were mixed over a businessman’s decision to name his chili flakes product as “Abog sa Yawa” or “devil’s ashes” in English.
Facebook user Atlast Cooper said, “Why was it named that way? I think it doesn’t’ sound good to customers.”
Heart Koh echoed Cooper’s comment. “Maybe they can create a new and better name for this product. Because if you base it on the Bible, it doesn’t really have a good meaning.”
But there are those who appreciated the owner’s creativity and uniqueness.
Joyce Llantino said, “It doesn’t really sound good at first, but I think the owner just wants to be artistic and imaginative. And I guess that’s how marketing should be. Because many people got curious of the name, they’re buying the product.”
Xavier Coronel was also enthusiastic about it. “I am very proud that this chili flakes is using our own language. The name shouldn’t be an issue, really. The entrepreneur just wants to sell his product. He’s doing nothing wrong.”
