THE San Fernando municipal government is considering filing a case against those responsible for the clumps of oil found near the coastline of the Barangay Panadtaran.
Mayor Lakambini Reluya said they were trying to identify who were the sources of the oil clumps floating near the Barangay Panadtaran coastline.
Reluya said they were coordinating and waiting for the assessment of the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer and Philippine Coast Guard on the mass of oil found floating at the seawaters near the barangay before they would file the case against those responsible for the suspected oil discharge.
They were checking reports that barges moored along the coastline of Sitio Sambag are the sources of the oil.
Lucibar Lumanog, 44, Bantay Dagat member, said he saw the mass of oil at past 1 p.m.
Panadtaran Barangay Captain Ricardo Reluya Jr., together with the personnel of San Fernando Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, checked the area and they suspected that the oil clumps must have come from the barges moored in the area.
Reluya said that they asked a crewman in one of the barges about the oil surrounding their barges.
The crewman told them that it was not oil but ashes from coal they were cleaning.
