BINIBINING CEBU: Miss San Fernando and Miss Santander

LEADING up to the pageant night on Oct. 28, we’re featuring the ladies who are vying for the first-ever Binibining Cebu crown.

Here’s more of Katie Bell Reyes Sanders of San Fernando and Jhanessa Ancao of Santander:

Katie Bell Reyes Sanders

Age: 18

Town: San Fernando

Hobbies/ Interests: Modeling and adventure Studying BSIT at USJ-R

Titles: Gaisano Island Mall 2015 2nd runner-up, Binibining Carcar 2015, Miss Compostela 2016 1st runner-up, and Miss Mandaue 2016 top 6 finalist

WHEN she learned about Binibining Cebu, Katie Bell Reyes Sanders flew back to Cebu after a year of staying in Northern Virginia, USA so she could join  the pageant.

Sanders is the official candidate of San Fernando, which she described as an “adventurer’s paradise.”

“We have a beautiful scenic trekking route that starts in the Bacalla woods and goes through Bugho falls and the mountains,” she told Cebu Daily News. San Fernando is also known for religious sites like the Pitalo Church and the Holy Trinity Shrine.

“I will promote San Fernando with the best invention given to humankind, social media. I will be able to show not only people of Cebu the beauty of San Fernando but also people throughout the world,” she added.

Jhanessa Ancao

Age: 19

Town: Santander

Hobbies/ Interests: Shopping, eating, reading books, watching movies

Job: Property Specialist Title: Miss International Travel Festival 2016

FEELING nervous, Jhanessa Ancao was thinking twice to join the pageant but accepted the challenge through the help of family and friends.

Ancao is the official candidate of Santander, which she considered as best ecotourism destination in southern Cebu.

Santander offers sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. It is also known for Tostado Festival which is celebrated every third Sunday of April.

Tostado is the known delicacy in the town or a locally made cookie.  If given the chance to promote Santander, she will use social media and word of mouth to show how hospitable and accommodating the people of Santander are.
