Pagara’s PP42 foe replaced due to accident

WORLD Boxing Organization’s (WBO) ranked number three junior welterweight contender Jason “El Niño” Pagara have to shift his game plan after his opponent Richmond Djarbeng of Ghana figured in a road mishap over the weekend.

Djarbeng (28W-3L-1D, 22KOs) was set to fight Pagara (40-2-0, 25KOs) in one of the three main events of the Pinoy Pride 42: Clash for Glory on September 16 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

But he was forced to pull out of the fight after sustaining multiple injuries in the road accident.

According to a press release from ALA Promotions International, Djarbeng suffered injuries in his face and legs and was advised to rest by his attending physicians back in Ghana.

Djarbeng will be replaced by James Onyango of Kenya, who sports a record of 23 wins 19 knockouts with 11 losses and one draw.

The 34-year-old Kenyan boxer has already fought numerous times abroad. He fought in Tanzania, Uzbekistan, Namibia, Uganda and Russia.
