Three-on-three collegiate basketball games to start October 21

The Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) is catching up to the 3×3 basketball rage as they stage their own 3×3 tournament involving collegiate players starting Oct. 21 at a yet to be decided venue.

Cesafi commissioner Felix Tiukinhoy made the announcement.

The development is a timely one as 3×3 basketball was named an Olympic sport back in June and will make its debut in the quadrennial games during Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

And with numerous 3×3 tournaments being held in Cebu and all over the nation, Tiukinhoy felt it was just right that the sport be introduced this season. The initial salvo will feature only 10 squads, which will be handpicked.

Televised games

In related news, Tiukinhoy also had good news for Cesafi fans outside of Cebu as he announced that the Final Four basketball games and the finals would be televised on Solar TV.

The deal means that the Cesafi games would once again be placed on the national stage after Viva Sports begged off televising the games this season.
